When I awoke at the last stop, there was little time for warning in the moment between my eyes meeting the horizon line and the sun spilling into existence. I shielded my eyes as heaven's gift barreled into view, wrapped in a gold sheen, stretching its arms across the landscape in a gesture so welcoming, I froze.
Photon torpedoes launched from a star millions of miles away, brought me to tears, and bombarded me with a message coded in high-frequency sine waves of energy: YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
The hands of this hydrogen leviathan dramatically swept the curtain away from the scenery before me and laid bare the tender vastness of my home, an arena of forestry and water and earth, demanding their freedom, hoping to subvert gravity's embrace, all of them reaching out to their illuminating god.

Crawling Practice
Connecting with obscure and deceased artists.
I rediscovered Monty Oum, only to realize that he is dead. I remember reading something he posted to his personal webpage, an entry about his mother passing, and the obsession with accomplishment that she had passed to him, an obsession that ironically prevented him from visiting her before she had died. Tragedy aside, I remember being able to identify with him, on this and on other points he made. He was, as I am, someone who worked out of a love for life. The justification for over-dedication could be counter-productive to this theme, but when wielded artfully, it became a powerful tool for creating--and changing--worlds.

I’ve been trying to find media that is both conservative and intellectual. Outlets and journalists that are able to understand and adapt, instead of using rhetorical one-liners fed by religious script-writers. Hilariously enough, I found this article titled “Beyond Fox News” posted to a website that touted itself as intellectually conservative. After reading, I thought to myself that it was sad to see bright thinkers whose ideological affiliations bring them defamation, and also whose creative viewpoints would lead to exclusion from their ideology. The idea of conservatism would be upheld with more dignity by these outliers, than by a majority that tarnishes and reconstructs the label to suit their own needs. I’m glad to know these people are out there, fighting the good fight.

How far up does this go?
Research for my planned sci-fi novel has led me to a study of the situation in Ukraine. It’s pathetic that I haven’t bothered to read into the conflict, and its backstory before I had a selfish incentive. In light of the insurmountable evidence of Russia’s military involvement (playing guardian angel to the Donetsk Pro-Russian forces), NATO’s foreboding preparations for armed conflict, and Europe’s refusal to acknowledge Russia’s aggression's, there is an eerie feeling I get that America’s presence in Ukraine is less than benign. Who’s to say how many straws Putin has put on the camel’s back, as American presidents of recent history struggled to maintain good-willed relations to a jealous Cold War runner-up. Or maybe it America’s flagrant and braggart attitude towards its economic superiority over the Federation.
It’s funny, you look at the majority of DIY Youtube videos that are considered Russian and American, and you can split the two down the middle between survivalist techniques/re-engineering electronic appliances and practical home improvements/artisan craft videos.

Say no evil, make no evil.
One last thought: Sometimes I wonder if the conjectures that “conspiracy theorists” make about potential abuse of power might be completely false UNTIL they decide to tell the world. That the secret course of action, deniable and effective, would never have occurred before its details were brought to light. In essence, they’re feeding the “bad guys” their “evil plan.”
Sometimes I wonder.
